One of the best things to consider for a Sunday family bonding is to bring your children and watch a play, that is why Theater Down South, a theater company where veteran stage actor and director Michael Williams is part of the group brings theater performances in Southern Metro where families will enjoy. For the month of September (5, 12, 19 and 26) including the last Sunday of August (29), Theater Down South will be presenting The Princess and the Red Carp in Insular Life Theater, Insular Life Corporate Center Filinvest Corporate City, Muntinlupa City.

The Princess and the Red Carp is directed by Michael Williams and stars by Kahna Cortez-Velasco (Yeh Hsien), Celine Fabie (Stepmother), Zig Hagamann (Young Emperor), Joonee Garcia (Stepsister), Marie Delgado (Stepsister) Mikey Llorin (Prime Minister), Chino Veguillas (voice of the Red Carp) and the TDS Company. The performance follows a Cinderella-like story with an oriental touch where instead of the usual fairy godmother is a red carp that answers wishes and gives Yeh Shien a pair of golden slippers that will be used by the young emperor in searching for her.

What good about the play? The story is familiar to all ages even it has oriental approach which children will love. I enjoyed the part where the some of the characters will interact with the audience so for those who will be watching the presentation stay glued to your seats so that you will not missed this part. Lastly, the location where the presentation was staged gives all the audience a better view of the performers without any destruction because of the movement or the height of the person in front of them.

Catch Theater Down South Presents The Princess and the Red Carp on August 29 and all Sundays of September, 3PM at the Insular Life Theater, Insular Life Corporate Center Filinvest Corporate City, Muntinlupa City. For tickets and reservations please visit www.theaterdownsouth.com, tickets are also available at Ticketworld outlets just call (02)8919999 or visit www.ticketworld.com.ph.

TDS will be presenting A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum after the Red Carp on the same venue and William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream that will be available for school based presentation.
