June 6, Taguig City, Philippines – More than 5, 000 participants here in the Philippines signed up for the annual walk for the World Food Programme’s End Hunger: Walk the World – Isang Hakbang Pilipinas 2010. WTW2010’s main goal is to raise awareness on global hunger where almost 1 Billion around the world is facing this problem along with lack of nutrition for children and pregnant women and victims of disasters and calamity like in Haiti and here in the Philippines. Aside from the awareness it also raise funds to support WFP’s project, here in the Philippines WTW2010 registration fee costs 250 pesos and all proceeds will be donated to support 70,000 school children in conflict-affected areas in Mindanao through WFP’s Emergency Food-for-Education Programme. Here are some photos from the World Food Programme’s End Hunger: Walk the World – Isang Hakbang Pilipinas 2010 in Fort Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City:

This year, the annual walk challenges the running enthusiast to join the event in taking huge and faster steps in campaign WFP’s End Hunger project. Despite of the drizzles it doesn’t stopped advocates, runners and walkers from walking 1Km lane or 5Km race lane for runners; instead they enjoyed the cool climate during the event. To see how the event goes here is short video of me showing how the annual walk looks like here in the Philippines.

World Food Programme’s End Hunger: Walk the World – Isang Hakbang Pilipinas 2010 is a symbolical project of WFP to create awareness and stepping up towards ending child hunger around the world. Hunger is one of the major concerns of the United Nation under the Millennium Developmental Goal; it falls on number 1; Eradication of Hunger and Poverty. Thousands of people around the world go to sleep with an empty stomach, along with children and pregnant women who lacks nutrition. Our call to help others doesn’t stop from walking and running, be a hunger fighter like by taking part of WFP’s project visit www.wfp.org for more details.
