Last November 2009, Efren Peñaflorida was awarded as CNN Hero of the Year for his significant contribution in education using his pushcart classroom. It was a prestigious recognition for the Philippines in a time when scandals, crimes, and tragedies happened in the country.
Aside from Peñaflorida, there are a lot of promising young people that can also be considered as heroes of the new generation who will uplift the morality and integrity of the country. They prove that you do not have to risk your life to inspire other people and to make their lives better.
