Before the filling of candidacy, election campaign and voting, marahil we should prepare ourselves on things what really concern us. Tulad ng how would this politicians utilize their resources to win our vote, after what President Obama did noong tumakbo siya sa presidential seat ng United States of America, ginamit niya ang lahat ng resources na pwede niyang gamitin para makuha ang support ng iba’t ibang sector sa lipunan, from the youth na into the net and techie stuff, women and the advocacy, workers and their grievances on economic crisis and minorities for the equal rights. Mula sa usual flyers na pinamimigay sa mga miting de avance, hanggang sa TV and radio ads, billboards and posters hanggang sa mabilis pero kumplikadong mundo ng world wide web at social networking.

2010 Presidential Candidates, though hindi pa sila nag-file ng candidacy we see them in all media platforms like they already campaigning for themselves as early before the filing of candidacy. From facial care, to whitening tablets, to laundry powder, and other advocacy everyone is on TV and Radio na, not to mention their billboards in EDSA and major tabloids and broadsheets, but then they’re not satisfied, from official website they utilize social networking sites where their most possible voters and especially first time voters can be found and the cost of this campaign — its free.

But the understand more of this from how politicians utilize media platforms to get the attention and support of their prospect voters, pag aralan din natin kung ano ang influence ng media sa mga voting attitude ng mga tao especially mga Filipino and the University of the Philippines College of Mass Communication Research Department offers 3 hour seminar on the possible impact of media to 2010 elections entitled “IMPRESS10N: The Impact of media presence to 2010 Elections” on March 14, 2009 from 9 am to 12 noon at the CMC Media center at the Plaridel Hall visit their Multiply site http://11thderp.multiply.com.

Syempre after learning the effect of media to the 2010 election, we should know also na almost half of the voting population ay ang kabataan, like what Jose Rizal said “Ang Kabataan ang Pag asa ng Bayan”, kung nakita natin ang uprise ng kabataan sa panahon ng EDSA Revolution na nag overthrow sa martial law at former president Ferdinand Marcos, ay parehong uri pa rin bang kabataan sa panahon ngayon na busy sa social networking stuff and gadgets. Sa 2010 election ano nga ba ang pulso ng kabataan, how will the youth vote, will it be a collective decision or it depends on who are they following as fans in their Facebook account or even in Friendster. That’s there will be a YouthVote for Social Change: An Assembly of Youth Organizations event on March 14, 2009 from 2 PM to 5 PM at the The Law Theater, UP College of Law, UP Diliman for details email yvotephilippines@gmail.com

There is no harm on joining this kind of event actually we learn more from this one, don’t say that its just a politic thing again and election season again, just a reminder one vote can really make a change a lot. So do your part, not just being aware and take action and make a change.
