Artemis Racing, Sweden’s internationally renowned sailing team, has confirmed its return to the global stage with the launch of the Artemis SailGP Team, set to compete in the Rolex SailGP Championship’s 2026 season.
The announcement comes just ahead of SailGP’s Geneva debut, the first of three remaining events in the current season before the championship concludes at the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Sail Grand Prix 2025 Season Grand Final, presented by Abu Dhabi Sports Council, on November 29–30.
Led by CEO Iain Percy, an Olympic gold medalist and former Artemis Racing Team Manager during its America’s Cup campaigns, the team is poised to make a major impact when SailGP’s record-breaking sixth season kicks off in January 2026 in Perth, Australia. Percy said the team is returning to the global stage with “a clear focus — combining cutting-edge technology, a world-class lineup, and lessons learned from our America’s Cup campaigns,” adding that “SailGP is redefining the sport with unmatched speed, innovation, and fan engagement. Bringing Sweden into this elite championship is a milestone we’re proud of, and we’re determined to compete at the very highest level — pushing boundaries both on and off the water.”
Backed by Torbjörn Törnqvist, the Artemis SailGP Team will bring Sweden’s rich sailing tradition and competitive spirit to the high-adrenaline global league, which combines state-of-the-art technology with the world’s best athletes. Its lineup will once again include Nathan Outteridge, confirmed as team driver. Outteridge, who previously led Japan SailGP Team to multiple podium finishes in Seasons 1 and 2, said that reuniting with Percy, Törnqvist, and the Artemis team is “incredibly exciting.” He noted that they have “shared huge moments together, and bringing that trust and experience into SailGP gives us a strong foundation,” describing the campaign as “a new challenge — a chance to show what Swedish sailing can achieve on one of the fastest and most competitive stages in the world.”
Since its founding in 2007, Artemis Racing has built a reputation for innovation and competitive excellence, competing at the highest levels of international sailing, including the 2013 and 2017 America’s Cup campaigns.
Artemis becomes SailGP’s 13th international team following a competitive global bid process, joining the league after the addition of Red Bull Italy and Mubadala Brazil earlier in 2025. SailGP CEO Russell Coutts said the team brings “a remarkable depth of talent, experience, and professionalism that will undoubtedly elevate the competitiveness of the league,” adding that Artemis is “expected to be a real contender from the very first race of the 2026 Season.”
Artemis SailGP Team will race alongside powerhouse nations including Australia, Great Britain, and New Zealand, with its full crew roster to be revealed in the coming weeks. SailGP’s current season continues this weekend with the league’s debut in Switzerland at the Rolex Switzerland Sail Grand Prix on Lake Geneva, taking place September 20–21, 2025, starting at 3:30 p.m. CEST.
