Yesterday I received a text message while I’m in a meeting telling that the former President Corazon Aquino died. To be honest this kind of text message has a big impact for those who look at her as an icon of politics and democracy. Same thing happen yesterday at the Manila City Hall where her supporters who attended the Healing Mass grieves after receiving the malicious text message and and has been announced by the Retired Supreme Court Justice Adolf Azcuna during the communion. But Margie Juico, private secretary of Cory Aquino denies the rumor of the death of the former president, she mention that Aquino’s health is stable and she’s fighting for her life which Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim affirms after rushing to the Makati Medical Center after receiving the text message.

3rd ANC Leadership Forum

After the 9th State of The Nation Address of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo on the July 27. ABS-CBN will ba having its third ANC Leadership Forum on the 28th of July with Senators Francis Escudero, Francis Pangilinan, Loren Legarda, Manuel Roxas II, as well as Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro, Pampanga Gov. Ed Panlilio, and Interior and Local Government Secretary Ronaldo Puno as they give their own version of State of the Nation Address and what are their hopes and plans on the 2010 National Election.

The country’s most interesting and inspiring stories will continue to go beyond borders as the documentary program “Storyline” and the immigration talk show “Crossing Borders” unveil its new seasons on the ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC SkyCable channel 27) on Friday (July 24) and next Thursday (July 30), respectively.

Produced by multi-awarded speaker, columnist, and TV show host Patricia Evangelista, “Storyline” uses elements of cinema to tell stories of hope, faith, and courage. On its fourth-season opener, “Storyline” will feature embattled journalist Cheche Lazaro, who is bravely facing a wiretapping case, followed by Mon and Monique Eugenio’s retelling of their heartrending experience when their three-year old baby drowned in the Batangas sea tragedy last month.

Last July 8, 2009 at the Gawad Kalinga Selecta Village in Cainta Rizal, Tony Meloto, founder of Gawad Kalinga and other supporters of GK launches the new program that will help the Filipinos aside from having a shelter, they can fight against hunger. Gawad Kalinga launches Bayan-Anihan, a project that will help our fellow Filipinos to work hard for their food and not by just giving it to them. As an old Chinese Proverbs says “Give a man a fish and he’ll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will eat for the rest of his life.” With the help of Gawad Kalinga and the people who believes and support it’s plight, Bayan Anihan aims to use the idle land for agricultural and teach the families of Gawad Kalinga villages to cultivate the land for their benefit.

But she is not alone with this battle, Filipinos all over the world joins her with this fight against colon cancer, where she was diagnosed a year ago and undergo chemotherapy. A week ago Corazon Aquino or Tita Cory was brought to Makati Medical City and according to her family she’s starting getting well and thankful for those who offers their prayer to the recovery of the former president.

ABS-CBN steps up its election advocacy campaign with a series of workshops on citizen journalism that will arm Filipinos with the knowledge and skills to report on events and incidents concerning the 2010 elections.

Hosted by ABS-CBN reporter Atom Araullo, the workshop is part of the network’s global election advocacy “Boto Mo, iPatrol Mo: Ako ang Simula,” which was launched last May 11 to encourage Filipinos here and abroad to take a more active role in monitoring the scheduled elections.

More than 13,000 Filipinos have already signed up to become “Boto Patrollers.” Through “Boto Mo, iPatrol Mo: Akong ang Simula,” ABS-CBN is asking Filipinos to register as voters and report as early as now election-related incidents using their mobile phones and the Internet.
